Since Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel was published in 1953 ('Casino Royale'), the phenomenon that is 007 has enthralled millions of people worldwide. This fascination has endured for over 50 years, and shows no signs of abating. In 2005, Ian Fleming Publications Ltd (formally known as Glidrose, a company set up by Ian Fleming), released the first in a series of Young Bond novels by acclaimed author Charlie Higson. Called 'Silverfin', this book has turned into a bestseller and the follow-up novel, 'Blood Fever' soon followed. His third, as yet untitled, book will be released in the UK in January 2007. Recently, IFP announced that a famous author would write an 'adult' James Bond novel, to be published in 2008, the centenary of Fleming's birth. This will follow on from the other continuation authors of official James Bond novels, Kingsley Amis (writing as Robert Markham), John Gardner and Raymond Benson. Many of these novels, apart from the Fleming's, are now out of publication, but can be found fairly easily in second-hand bookstores or online via websites such as ours, Amazon (see below), abebooks or Ebay.

From the original Fleming novels, to books about the novels and films and their impact upon society, a vast library of literature about 007 has been published over the last 50 years. Many more are planned for publication this year, some will tie in with the cinema release of 'Quantum of Solace' in November, but the main event in 2008 is the Centenary of Ian Fleming's birth. On the anniversary date of 28th May, the first adult James Bond novel in many years will be published worldwide. 'Devil May Care' by renowned author Sebastian Faulks takes our hero back to the cold war, and has the usual ingredients of love, death and violence.
